The 808er's Club
The 808er’s club (pronounced "eight oh eighters") is a five-day after-school physical computing workshop for youth of color (black, hispanic, and native american), ages 10 to 14.
-
- By the end of the workshop, students will create a digital music synthesizer (a drum machine), have the opportunity to compose songs using their machines and perform their compositions. Once the workshop is over, the students can take their drum machines home and repurpose the materials to create additional projects that will be provided to them.
- The workshop was created to address the lack of racial diversity in the technology industry by empowering youth of color to be comfort with working with technology and to see themselves as technologists.
