Despite the recent advances within areas of athletic mobile technologies and motion gaming, the extreme sports world is relatively untouched by electronic trends and the ever reaching extent of the smart phone. This project is a skateboarding trick tracking application i designed and developed in two parts. One part existing in part as physical open sourced hardware attached
to a skateboard that will act as a peripheral to accompany the second part, a mobile phone application. The skateboard will track tricks performed by the user and send that information to a game that can be played in real time. With hopes that skaters will have the ability to build upon this project, this thesis work hopes to help skaters communicate, play, and compete across
distances.

He is also a graduate from Parsons New School of MFA Design and Technology program. His work on numerous independent films has allowed him to hone his directing skills as well as camera work while his studies in grad school have opened up the world of physical computing, gaming, and designing interfaces. In short, he likes to play well with others. In long, he really likes to play and explore. Joe loves to spend his spare time dreaming up fun adventurous projects, and then later exorcize his creativity as a digital artist. Joe’s friends have noted that when he’s not scheming about worldly revolutions , writing bizarre ultramodern screenplays, or getting into some form of trouble, you will most likely find him atop his trusty BMX bike at the local skatepark, traveling, or at the bookstore browsing through the Sci-fi section. If you’d like to know more about Joe or ask anything at all feel free to shoot Joe a message.
