FitHub

Thomas Lawrie

FitHub is the first device to seamlessly integrate fitness data into homes, subtly revealing progress in order to inspire action.

Ubiquitous computing has made it possible to track many aspects of our lives including our physical well-being. Through the use of wearable fitness tracking devices we are generating a mountain of personal data, such as steps taken, miles traveled, calories burned and even quality of sleep. However, much of this data remains hidden from our daily life experience, but FitHub makes the most important information easily accessible in our everyday world.
FitHub is a tangible and configurable interface which can be placed anywhere in the home. It displays real-time fitness measurements from popular sensor platforms such as the Fitbit. The main feature of the device is a progress bar that acts as a visual guide to show how close the consumer is to reaching weekly fitness goals. By providing immediate insight into an individual’s progress without having to use a smartphone or computer, FitHub closes the feedback loop and makes it easier to work towards a goal.
